The Foundation Diploma Music: Level 1 is a one-year Level 1 course starting September 2011 and is designed to introduce young people aged 16-18 to music-making and the skills needed to progress to a music course at Level 2 such as Performing Musician or Digital Musician.
You can do this course in the following centre for start in September 2011: Access to Music: Norwich
The Norwich course will focus on music-making using technology. Please note this course is completely FREE OF CHARGE for 16-18s!
Who is the course for?
Anybody aged 16-18 who is looking to start making music with a view to developing a career in the music industry.
Entry requirements?
If the course is based around music production then you can be a beginner. If the course includes playing an instrument then you should be at a level to be able to play with others.
What is the course about?
- Learning introductory skills in music-making such as songwriting, music technology, musicianship and performance.
- Getting an idea of your career in music and identifying the skills to achieve this.
- Developing your personal skills such as audition/interview techniques.
- Gaining important skills in English and maths.
- Gaining a Rockschool Level 1 Diploma for Music Practitioners as well as personal and functional skills qualifications.
How is it delivered?
Assessment is through course work which is organised into practical, relevant projects. There are no exams. You will have regular tutorials and access to additional support to help you complete your work.
